Two Gulfs Tour

The tour of the Two Gulfs owes its name to the privileged position of the Portofino promontory with respect to the Gulf of Tigullio of which it is part and constitutes the western extreme starting from the opposite extreme of Sestri Levante and the nearby Golfo Paradiso which extends from Bogliasco to Camogli.
The tour includes a series of points of interest relevant for short excursions or refreshment breaks, as well as a series of areas that we have identified as optimal for making stops dedicated to a peaceful swim or moments of snorkeling in unique natural contexts, admiring the beauty of the underwater world.
By choosing this tour you will have the opportunity to discover many of the villages present within this area and which also includes the Portofino Park with its natural beauty, appreciating its beauty, traditions and also the flavors of our cuisine.

Itinerary

The Due Golfi tour does not have a predefined itinerary, but is structured in such a way as to best combine your curiosities and interests with our knowledge of the territory and the natural landscape that hosts us. The numerous points of interest located along the areas included within the Gulf of Tigullio and the Gulf of Paradiso allow you to decide during the day which could be the most interesting areas to involve during your day, combining your rhythms and needs with those that are the most relevant areas of the entire district.
The day takes place approximately between 10:00 and 17:00, with the option of agreeing together on any changes, adapting the day to your needs and based on the suggestions that the knowledge and experience of our skippers will be able to provide you.

The details of the tour are the result of our knowledge and experience in this type of activity, but it is important to specify that we are at your disposal to agree on any changes to meet your needs in terms of times or stops to be made. To this we also add the possibility of reaching you to start the day in any accessible port between the towns of La Spezia and Genoa, in order to best accommodate your needs with the aim of facilitating your experience.

All vessels are equipped with all the necessary equipment required by the navigation code and are also subject to periodic inspections by authorised bodies.

Portofino

Portofino is a small and ancient village that has remained unchanged over the years and presents itself as a nucleus of multi-colored, tall and narrow houses, arranged along the bay close to the famous "piazzetta" and surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Portofino Park.

Over the years, this village has become a famous holiday resort known throughout the world for being a destination for celebrities, politicians and VIPs in general.

These presences have brought about some changes within the village with the appearance of renowned fashion boutiques in place of small artisan workshops and luxurious yachts within the small port, once inhabited by modest fishing boats.

From the small square it is possible to walk between the pier and the tiny alleys or climb towards the lighthouse, the Church of San Giorgio or the Brown Castle which dominates Portofino from above.

Portofino is easily reached by bus, boat or on foot from the Promontory; the car is not recommended, especially in high season, due to queues and parking fees.

Santa Margherita Ligure

Santa Margherita Ligure is a prestigious resort frequented by tourists from all over the world who find in the beaches, cafes and restaurants, art galleries and exclusive shops an elegant way to spend their holidays.

Tourism offers solutions for everyone: for those who are looking for trends but also for those who want genuine products and uncontaminated nature. The ancient maritime tradition is still present in the port where fishing boats coexist with splendid pleasure boats.

The fish market and the crowds waiting for the return of the fishing boats are a typical experience. Around the port there are festivals, folklore and sports such as sailing, rowing and diving.

For relaxation by the sea there is the Ghiaia area, the Lungomare after the port or the enchanting Paraggi, between Santa and Portofino, a triumph of Mediterranean colors in a hidden cove.

San Fruttuoso

The splendid San Fruttuoso Bay is a pearl between Portofino and Camogli, reachable only on foot on the paths of Monte di Portofino or by boat. Here stands the medieval abbey of the same name, which went from being a refuge for monks to a pirate's hideout, then owned by the Doria family and finally donated to the FAI in 1983.

The small cove is home to fishermen's houses, the Doria Tower and a small beach overlooking crystal-clear waters, with restaurants overlooking the sea. The bay is also famous for the Christ of the Abyss.

Christ of the Abyss

The Christ of the Abyss is a bronze statue placed in 1954 on the seabed of the bay of San Fruttuoso at a depth of 17 m, commissioned by Duilio Marcante in memory of Dario Gonzatti. The dive to see it is among the most famous on the Ligurian coast and is a symbol of the passion for scuba diving.

The site is located in the Portofino Marine Protected Area and the dive is simple but requires authorized guides.

Chiappa Point

Punta Chiappa is a strip of rock that juts out from the promontory of Portofino on the west side, part of the Municipality of Camogli, of the Park and of the Marine Protected Area. Upstream there is Mediterranean scrub; in the sea there are clear seabeds rich in fauna that attract diving.

Along the pedestrian path, among oleanders and bougainvilleas, you will find summer villas and typical restaurants in the Porto Pidocchio area, a popular destination in every season.

Rapallo

Rapallo is one of the main seaside tourist centers of the Riviera di Levante, located in the heart of the Gulf of Tigullio. The tourist offer exploits the coast-hinterland binomial thanks to the particular conformation of the territory.

The historic center, between the sea and the railway, has expanded in an arc around the inlet and on the hills behind. Among the events not to be missed are the Patronal Festival of Nostra Signora di Montallegro (1-3 July) and the Fiera di San Sebastiano (end of January), as well as cultural events and literary prizes.

Sixth Levante

Defined as the "city of two seas" for its historic center overlooking the bays of Favole and Silence. The landscape combines the green of the vegetation, the blue of the sea and the golden of the beaches.

The Bay of Fables was named after the writer HC Andersen, to whom Sestri has dedicated a literary prize for children for over thirty years. The cuisine is dominated by fish, especially anchovies: in Riva Trigoso the Bagnun festival is celebrated in July.

Camogli

Camogli is a romantic Ligurian town with a splendid promenade, an ancient port and a glorious maritime past. In the Golfo Paradiso, the historic center on levels and the castle perched on the sea create a fascinating setting.

Mild climate all year round, itineraries between sea and mountains and connections with Santa Margherita, Rapallo, Portofino and the Portofino Park make it an ideal base for excursions.

Ligurian cuisine is made up of traditional dishes that make use of ingredients linked both to local production (such as preboggion , a mixture of wild herbs) and to imports from areas with which these lands have had frequent contact over the centuries, such as Sardinian pecorino cheese, which is one of the ingredients of pesto.

For its history, roots and above all the elements that compose it, it can be said that Ligurian cuisine is one of the best expressions of Mediterranean cuisine, a cuisine that is in some ways poor and made of simple, common and cheap foods, but which has become imitated and sought after thanks to its unique traditions and preparations.

If we want to summarise the main elements of this cuisine we can bring it all back to:

Wild herbs and garden products (marjoram, sage, rosemary, onions, potatoes, basil, etc.)
Early fruits from the fields and woods (basil, beefsteak tomatoes, mushrooms, truffles, dried fruit, etc.)

The combination of these elements has given life to famous specialties such as pesto, pansotti with walnut sauce, focaccia with Recco cheese, torta pasqualina and farinata.
